Broadband Internet Providers

Postby Little Ames on Fri Feb 27, 2009 3:08 pm

Hey there! I just moved to Quincy last summer and am looking to make some changes. I currently have Comcast for both my TV and internet, and I am fed up. Not getting the services I requested, prices constantly rising, getting double charged multiple times...I'm just disgusted in their service. So anyway, I am now looking to switch either to Dish or DirecTV for my TV but am not sure what to do about my internet. I know one of those offers internet but it's quite expensive and from what I've heard not good. Unfortunately everyone I've talked to says that comcasts broadband is the best in the area...so just wondering if that's true or what else is out there?

Welcome to Quincy! Your internet options are pretty limited here. Comcast is the only cable internet provider here, there is also a couple DSL providers, but IMO they aren't as fast as broadband(Comcast). There is also satellite internet through the dish providers, but it again, is pretty slow compared to broadband. Im with Comcast as well, i dont like them either.

I currently use DirecTV for satellite option, pretty good, rather inexpensive compared to DISH when I cancelled them. My internet options are either dial up or satellite, so I have WildBlue. I am more blue than Wild over them, not much faster than dialup for the cost. I am entertaining the option of getting a wireless card from Cingular or Sprint less expensive, just not sure how it will work with router. Any computer guru's out there that have advise I would appreciate it.
