Holy Grounds?

What has anyone heard about what they are doing with the old Mounds Club on 8th & Adams? The sign on the front windows says Holy Grounds.

With a name like that, it's probably another jesus freak coffee shop. Just what we need here, lol. Bad location for ANY kind of coffee shop, much less one trying to tap in to the wallets of the delusional. Amusing name at least, wonder where they nicked it?

They'll last as long as the their money holds out, probably 2-3 months. The types who'll trundle down to 8th & Adams for a little salvation with their latte are the types who'll take up space and spend as little as possible.

Holy grounds turns out to be a fairly decent place. Ya the guys who run it are christian. Nothing is ever charged there(they run on the donations of whoever wants to give). It isn't a church in that they even close on sunday morning in hopes of people attending a local house of God.They do have a bible study on thur. nite, but mainly it is run by people who want to give others a chance to hang out at a place that you can have a good time, meet people and not have to worry about drunks. Call it what you may but it sounds like you are mistaken on a couple of points.

Not sure how you can characterise anything in my post as "mistaken," since your post pretty much verified everything in mine. Sounds like a smaller scale version of the "Jesus hotel" scam that the local Bible Mafia tried to run down on the expressway a while back. Hell, for all I know it's Brucie & Jerry themselves running the joint.

My projection for the longevity of the joint has dropped even further if they're running on "donations." Last I checked, landlords, Kohl's, and Amerind don't run on a donation basis. They tend to want cash on the barrelhead every month. Unless the people running it have more money to burn than business sense, which is quite probable considering the nature of the operation, that space will be up for lease again fairly soon.

If the purpose of Holy Grounds was to make money then your conclusion would be correct. It is a place started by folks who wanted to create a place outside the church ,for people searching for a meeting place, for Christians and others looking for a place to hang out instead of a scummy bar(which this town has plenty of)with guys pawing on your lady ,or females I would NOT bring home to my dogs.It is a place to hang out with people who are interested in higher things then the next paycheck. You get the idea? Or possibly you are too arrogant or delusional to think that anyone can exist with goals higher than themselves. Holy Grounds has become a great place to hangout with caring people doing fun stuff. I am looking forward to hanging out there again tomorrow night. And since it is FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC you may want to check it out sometime if you can free yourself from suppositions you know NOTHING about. So quick to judge, it makes me wonder what you are truly afraid of? No one there has EVER asked me for money or donations. So, if it makes you feel better to malign and speak ill of a place you have not ever walked into go ahead. I am sure others will not listen or pay heed to your biased bitter rantings.I just wanted you to know you can't judge a place or people you have never been to or met.

10speed....though I don't frequent the place, I am glad that Quincy and the owners can have this place. I try to ignore the majority of what RealityCheck says just mainly because its his personal opionions and I don't agree with many of them.

HOLY GROUNDS is a good thing, mainly because it just may save someone who is searching for something, before they choose to bite the bullet, overdose or some other drastic measure to permanently solve a temporary problem.
